Katherine Jamieson is a professor of literature, communication, and writing at Westfield State College and Holyoke Community College. She writes about food and health for magazines and newspapers. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Ms., Narrative Magazine, and locally in Edible Pioneer Valley and The Hampshire Gazette. This piece comes from a body of creative nonfiction writing she's done about the two years shepent as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana, South America.
